Community Hospital

An anesthesiologist is responsible for patient care during surgery.  Most surgical patients will receive general anesthesia.  With general anesthesia, patients are unaware and do not feel pain during surgery.

Patients may also receive regional anesthesia, which can block pain to an extremity, like an arm or a leg.  The anesthesiologist will review a patient’s past and current health history to determine what type of anesthesia is appropriate.
