Da Vinci® Robotic-Assisted Surgery
At Community Hospital, we offer robotic-assisted procedures using the da Vinci® Surgical System. This advanced tool helps enhance surgical control and supports a less invasive approach to many procedures.
How Does It Work?
The da Vinci® System is made up of three key parts:
- Surgeon’s Console: Where your surgeon operates the system with a magnified 3D view and precise control.
- Patient-Side Cart: Holds robotic arms that move instruments in sync with the surgeon’s hands.
- Vision Cart: Connects and powers the system’s advanced imaging and coordination.
Why Robotic-Assisted Surgery?
- Smaller Incisions: Fewer and smaller cuts can mean quicker recovery and fewer complications.
- Increased Control: Robotic precision helps with complex, delicate procedures.
- Minimal Scarring: Less visible scarring thanks to smaller incisions.
- Shorter Hospital Stay: Many patients return home sooner.
Procedures Commonly Performed with the da Vinci® System:
- Colorectal
- General surgery
- Gynecology
- Urology
What to Expect
Before Surgery: Meet with your surgeon to go over the procedure and complete any needed tests.
During Surgery: Your surgeon performs the procedure using small incisions and robotic instruments while seated at the console.
After Surgery: Recovery varies, but many people resume normal routines faster than with traditional open surgery. Clear instructions will be provided to guide your healing.
